Volvo Cars New Zealand has appointed BCG2 to handle its creative and digital business, transitioning from incumbents Republik, and kicking off with new work during the lockdown. Additionally, Volvo has appointed Wavemaker NZ to handle its Media business.
Coby Duggan, General Manager Volvo Cars New Zealand, was looking to balance increasingly stringent global requirements with the need to present the brand in a way that resonated in this market.
“BCG2’s significant track record in the luxury automotive category, combined with their global Grey connections, presents an opportunity for us to align with Volvo’s global agency network while ensuring we are able to retain a New Zealand ‘accent’ when it makes sense to do so. They understand the industry, our customers and are results-focused which is more important than ever as we gear up for our next growth phase in a post-COVID world.”
Duggan added: “We were also impressed with Wavemaker’s data driven approach, both here and abroad, and look forward to working with them to maximise the impact of our media investment.”
Volvo New Zealand is the distributor for all Volvo passenger vehicles within the New Zealand market with a retail network of eight independent dealerships nationwide.
Michael Jarvis, Managing Director at BCG2, said “We’re really proud to be working on such a progressive and human-centric brand. It’s exciting to hear Volvo calling out its bold vision to be completely electric within a few years. Volvo is not only laser-focused on electrification, but has a genuine commitment to sustainability, something that resonates deeply at BCG2”.
Grant Anderson, Managing Direct of Wavemaker New Zealand, added: “We are excited to work on this innovative brand. Volvo has a provocative, fearless vision and is exactly the kind of brand that Wavemaker does our best work with. We look forward to applying our data driven approach to help drive growth for Volvo.”
