Hot on the heels of Shirtcliffe & Co’s two golds at the NZDM awards, comes news the agency has been acquired by bcg2 – with their senior staff all integrating with the wider bcg2 team.
“The move went live on March 1 and brings a wealth of direct, CRM and rural expertise to complement the skills and experience within bcg2,” said chairman/ECD James Blackwood.
“There are a number of reasons why we chose to team up, but the most pertinent is the strength it adds to our overall business and our client offering.
“Matt Shirtcliffe’s creative reputation, specialist background and his own passion for the rural sector is a great fit with bcg2.
“We’re expanding our footprint in the primary sector and as a result have been crossing paths more and more. That’s led to a meeting of the minds and I’m delighted to say it’s evolved into a deeper partnership. Both bcg2 and Shirtcliffe and Co clients will benefit from the get go.”
Matt Shirtcliffe said: “We’re excited to be joining bcg2. Their philosophy, values and approach are very aligned to ours, and it allows our existing clients more scope and scale.
“It’s been a terrific ride with Shirtcliffe & Co; I’m really proud of what we’ve achieved over the past six years with our clients, and this is a natural evolution.”
Michael Jarvis said: “This new structure adds real depth to our continued emphasis on growing the CRM, data and digital capabilities of the group, with Alexia Walsh [former GM of Shirtcliffe & Co], becoming head of direct and CRM.”
bcg2 managing director Michael Jarvis said: “We’re also making other additions across the business like the return of Anita Young. Formerly at digital specialists Young & Shand, where her work just won a gold, two silver and a bronze at the NZDM awards, she returns to bcg2 as our new digital creative director.
The agency expansion coincides with bcg2 moving to premises on the 12th floor of the new 22 Fanshawe Tower in downtown Auckland.
